Learning in Motion: Movement, Play & Early Skill Building for Little Ones

Supporting Early Motor Development Through Play

Every child grows at their own pace, but movement is universal — it’s how children learn about their bodies, the world around them, and how to connect with others. At Ability 2 Play, Learning in Motion is a therapist-led movement class designed to support early motor skills, coordination, confidence, and social engagement in young children.

This program is offered in two age ranges:

👶 Wobblers: 12–24 Months

🚶‍ Toddlers: 2–3 Years

What Makes Learning in Motion Unique?

Each 45-minute session is guided by licensed Occupational and Physical Therapists who understand how early movement supports brain and body development.

In this class, children engage in:

  • Obstacle courses that encourage balance and problem-solving

  • Gross motor activities that build coordination

  • Music and rhythm play that support sensory integration

  • Guided social interactions that build confidence

These experiences are more than just fun — they lay the foundation for future skills like self-regulation, peer engagement, and classroom readiness.

Why Movement Matters in Early Years

Movement isn’t just physical — it’s neurological. When children explore movement through play, they build:

  • Motor planning and coordination

  • Muscle strength and balance

  • Body awareness and confidence

  • Social interaction skills

Additionally, developing strong movement foundations supports everyday tasks like sitting, walking, climbing, and even early writing skills. This makes Learning in Motion a meaningful and developmentally rich experience for toddlers and wobblers alike.

What to Expect in a Session

Sessions are structured but playful — no two classes look exactly the same! You might see children:

  • Navigating obstacle elements

  • Dancing and moving to music

  • Engaging in guided play with peers

  • Practicing skills like climbing or balancing

Our therapists intentionally adjust activities to match each child’s strengths and support areas.
